When it comes to our emotional wellbeing it can be extremely difficult and overwhelming to choose services that will support us when we're already experiencing difficult life situations. Something that I highly recommend my clients to have is a team of support services outside of their family and friends that they can call upon whenever they need. I believe prevention is always better when it comes to our mental and emotional health, it's always better to know what to do when you are going through periods of extreme stress or trauma than to wait until you are struggling to cope and then seek help. Often we're not in the right frame of mind to start getting help from someone we don't know when we are experiencing mental or emotional health problems. As a society we have been conditioned to seek help when our mental or emotional wellbeing is already declining, and I believe this is one of the biggest downfalls of the mental health system in Australia. We need to focus on educating, supporting and promoting emotional and mental wellbeing just like having a healthy lifestyle is promoted in this country.
One of the best ways that I have been able to support and take care of myself is having a team of different practitioners that I use to keep my emotional wellbeing healthy. So often we wait till we are faced with anxiety, depression or even grief before we seek help. The truth is that just like exercise nourishes and supports our body to stay fit and healthy, having a practitioners that can support your mental and emotional health is super important too. When we are faced with adversity and life challenges we already have a variety of services that we can rely upon to help us through those times.
