As this wonderful community continues to grow I feel like it’s time for me to share a little more about myself that doesn’t revolve around all things narcissistic abuse recovery. When I follow others online I love to read their more personal and off topic type blog posts and I thought you’d love to read something like that from me too!
Don’t forget to let me know in the comments below some things about yourself that you’d love to share with me.
Here it goes…
I was born in Germany and moved to Australia when I was 6 years old. I didn’t speak much English when I first went to school here and would sit quietly in the class for the first few months until I started to grasp the language. I don’t remember not being able to speak English but I would have people from school ask me when I was older why I didn’t talk much in those early days of Primary school.
I am big car enthusiast and love driving - in 2017 I did the VW driving experience with my dad and we got to go pretty fast around the race track in Perth and also learned some cool skills! Next on the list is another track in Australia soon!
I love DnB - drum and bass! Sub Focus and Dimension are a couple of my fav artists. I also love dance music and anything with a cool beat! I spent most of 2018 learning to cultivate a fun dance embodiment practice to connect with myself more and to just have fun!
I almost played the cello professionally when I left high school. I was enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts and was going to major in music and German. I played cello for over 10 years and got to do lots of performances growing up. From orchestral performances to eistedfodds to quartets, trios and even rock and heavy metal bands! I got to perform some pretty cool music! And I’m really grateful I was able to cultivate my creativity through music during that time. This year am hoping to get back into playing and joining a community orchestra.
Before I began specialising in narcissistic abuse recovery coaching I supported women with their emotional wellbeing including tools to help them with their anxiety and depression. After I left my abusive relationship and started my path of healing I realised that my experiences and challenges of navigating recovery could really help others too and so I pivoted the work that I was already doing to focus on narc abuse recovery.
I love being super creative and learning new things! As a kid I loved beads and making jewellery, cross stitch, mosaics and playing cello. 2019 is all about creative expression for fun and I have just started a new cross stitch project which is super fun!
I love love love baking! While these days I mostly stay away from dairy, gluten and sugar whenever there is an occasion for me to bake something I love getting in the kitchen. German tortes, muffins and biscuits are some of my favourite things to bake.
I grew up in a country town (now more of a small city) called Albany in Western Australia. Life in Albany growing up was great - it’s definitely kept me grounded. Recently I’ve realised how much I do enjoy the simple things and the hustle and bustle of a big city can definitely get too much for me at times! I love going home whenever I can and getting back to the beautiful coastal white sand beaches Albany is known for.
I love coffee! But my adrenal glands do not…I still have coffee from time to time but mostly I do have to stick with decaf (but it has to be strong coffee tasting even if it doesn’t have the caffeine.) Just because some of us have to drink decaf doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy the taste of coffee :) One of my first jobs growing up was being a barista at a cafe. That’s really when I acquired the taste for coffee and was a bit of a coffee snob for awhile there! - Don’t worry not any more, but I do enjoy a good strong coffee.
I love plants! but have been partial to killing a few plants over the years…Honestly I find it so confusing with working out the exact amount of water for each different type of plant! Something that I actually have my clients to is look after a plant themselves. It’s a great exercise to hone your self care skills. So often we either give too much to ourselves or we don’t give ourselves any attention and nurturing. As a recovering codependent self care and self love are things I am constantly adjusting and learning how to navigate. Some of my favourite plants are the popular fiddle leaf and monstera as well as succulants and cacti. I also love any tropical fern type plants. I’m not great with botanical names…but I do love plants none the less!
Well I hope you’ve enjoyed these little facts about me.
I always love sharing with my community and I hope through this post you’ll have gotten to know me a bit more :)
