I came across the beautiful Riley McCoy whilst I was reading a beautiful article about depression and navigating our emotions that she had written online. Instantly I knew I wanted to get to know her more and get her to share her story with us! Her deep wisdom, knowledge and curiosity about life reminded me of myself when I was younger. Unlike Riley I wasn't tapped into the infinite wisdom of my soul and for many years I wondered where this deep inner knowing came from.

Riley's interview offers some really great insight, truth bombs and universal knowledge. I'm super excited to share this interview with you today and I hope you enjoy reading it and learning a little about her as much as I did!
Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions for us, firstly I'd like to start by asking you...
What does emotional wellbeing mean to you?
Emotional wellbeing to me is being able to experience your emotions without being dramatically or unhealthily affected by them. To expand on that a little bit, emotional wellbeing might look like being able to sit with and observe a painful emotion or experience, and being able to be open to that experience's lesson or wisdom. To be able to be whole as the beautiful human you are, and still experience the human parts of life with understanding. That doesn't mean it will be easy, all sunshine, rainbows, and light and love, or the most magical thing all of the time - this life is messy - but to be able to ride the waves of emotion within life in the most peaceful and open way you can be is emotional wellbeing. Because balance is a myth ;)
How has a daily gratitude practice changed your life?
When I focus on what I am grateful for (which sometimes includes the darkness of life) I can look at my life as a whole with more trust, certainty in the truth that I am divinely supported + guided, and joy. Gratitude for the good things in life manifests more of those experiences. And when things get tricky, having gratitude for the good that a mess has brought you instills a sense of understanding and safety within the chaos that we sometimes face.
What advice do you have for someone wanting to go after their dreams?
Trust your intuition. Many people will tell you, "The world doesn't work that way." but here is what is your truth: Your world will work however you want it to, and has the potential within it to be even more incredible then you can imagine, if you will allow the Universe to match your magic.
What’s your favourite:
Book - This one is so tricky for me. My favorite book currently would have to be White Hot Truth by Danielle LaPorte.
Blog - My favorite blog right now is ByKalyn.com
Breakfast - I've got a sweet tooth, so my all time favorite breakfast is a chocolate chip belgian waffle with fresh strawberries + whipped cream on top.
Quote - You can't ask a writer this question!!! I'm going to cheat and give you my top 3:
"Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder." ~Rumi
"Open, gentle heart. Big fucking fence."~Danielle LaPorte, White Hot Truth
"You are entirely up to you."~Unknown
What do you love about life coaching?
My absolute favorite part about life coaching is being able to reflect to whoever I am working with the true power and beauty of who they are and what they can do. To be able to hold space for someone to guide themselves, with a little help, to their own empowerment is an insanely beautiful gift to have, experience, and offer to someone else along their journey.
The biggest challenge you have overcome going after you dreams?
Learning how to deflect the energy + beliefs that naysayers project has probably been the most difficult thing to navigate. I have my truth though, and this is mine. It is a sacred gem that belongs to me and only me, and no one else gets to touch that. I am just blessed enough to hold that truth as my foundation, and share the insight that comes of it or with it with whoever is in willing to hear, open hearted, and in alignment.
The greatest lesson you have learned?
Being 19 currently, I feel like it's only the most respectful and honest thing to say that I have plenty more learning of lessons ahead of me, and I have not met the greatest one. So far though, learning to practice simultaneous unconditional love and self-protection has been really impactful on me.
Describe your perfect day.
I would start the day alone somewhere in nature near water, with a camera or a notebook; exploring, hiking, meditating, and being. Then coming home with coffee, working on future collaborations, doing a mentoring session or two, maybe working on writing a book. And ending the day surrounded by kindred friends and loved ones with a beautiful meal and even more beautiful conversations. There's only one day that I crave a little bit more than this one, and that's when I speak with Oprah for an episode of Super Soul Sunday.
