On Sunday afternoon I attended Claire Baker’s Get Radiant Workshop. Held in the beautiful yoga studio at Yoga Alchemy, it was a beautiful afternoon filled with reflection, connection, clarity and nourishment. I felt humbled to be part of such a group of soulful and beautiful women all of whom showed courage to show up whole heartedly and learn something from the experience.
The afternoon began with beautiful yoga led by Amanda from Yoga Alchemy. Her presence was truly magnetic and inspiring and created a beautiful space for the rest of the afternoon. The yoga practice allowed each and every person to connect with themselves emotionally, spiritually and physically. By the end of the session I personally had greater clarity, connection and energy and my body was feeling more nourished already.
Claire took us behind the scenes of some of her non negotiable practices that she uses in her life. Journaling, yoga, meditation and having a gratitude practice were part of what she shared. She talked about how all of these things are a practice and this really resonated with me. Journaling, yoga, meditation or having gratitude aren’t things that you do a few times and then have mastered, it is a continuous process. The process allows us to learn about ourselves and acknowledge the fact that we aren’t perfect. We are human and we are here to grow, learn and go on the journey that is our life. For me this has been a personal moment of growth, as I have for quite some time now procrastinated about all of these things. Growing up I had a very strong journaling practice and this helped me to understand emotions and experiences that I had. Something inside of me had stopped wanting to understand this process and I realised that by not journaling I wasn’t being real with myself. No wonder I had been feeling confused and lacked clarity about some aspects of my life!
After our journaling session we had another wonderful session of yoga with Amanda and she took us further into our journey of self discovery. We focused on connecting with ourselves and deepened our sense of clarity and focus we were delving into in the workshop. We meditated and practiced our gratitude for the experience.
Claire then took some time to discuss and highlight the importance of the different aspects of our lives including spirituality, relationships, finances, education and so on. She talked about how the satisfaction we feel for each aspect of our life is an indicator of how we view these aspects, which ultimately affects our overall life satisfaction. We then had the opportunity to talk in small groups about our experiences. We shared what surprised us having looked at our satisfaction in different areas of our lives. I had the pleasure of connecting and sharing my insights with two lovely ladies Kelsey and Andjelka. We shared our insights in a way that allowed us to be connected and honest with each other, but most importantly with ourselves.
I learned that by being really honest with ourselves and looking at how satisfied we feel in each area we can focus our attention on improving those areas that we feel we are lacking satisfaction.
After a small discussion we focused our attention on values. Claire talked about what being radiant meant to her. She explained that a radiant woman is one who walks her talk, is confident and happy with herself and knows exactly what she wants. She knows her values and lives her life by them. What a beautiful definition it was!
We then were given the time to really analyse and chose the values that we found most important. It was a great exercise and although values were something that I have looked at in the past I found that revisiting and revising what my values were provided me with clarity on certain aspects of my life.
It was nearing the end of the workshop and before our break we were given beautiful ‘I am radiant’ cards designed by Claire to write our intention for the remainder of the year on.
On mine I wrote
To be honest with myself, do what makes me happy and let go of what no longer is serving me.
Then we were treated to some delicious treats from the Little Shop of Plenty and some amazing Prana Chai tea prepared by Amanda, before we gathered as a group to share our intentions with everyone. For me this was the best part of the workshop as I got to listen to everyone share their intention. Each and every single person in the room had a personal reason for their intention. The opportunity for reflection, connection and clarity we had received from the workshop allowed us to be honest with ourselves and really focus our intention on what we want from our lives.
Here is what I learned from listening to everyone’s intentions:
*We need to put ourselves first more often
*We need to be honest with ourselves in order to be our most authentic version of ourselves
*We are often our biggest critic
*We need to be kind to ourselves
*We must acknowledge our emotions and feelings
*We have to dig deep and face our fears and insecurities in order to grow
*Everything we do in life is part of our journey
*Don’t do something if it doesn’t satisfy you
At the end of the workshop there was so much love and gratitude for one another in the room the atmosphere was magnetic. Claire had created an amazing afternoon for personal reflection and growth but even more than that she created the space for connection between all the beautiful women that attended. There were tears, laughter, gratitude, love, connection, nourishment and clarity.
A truly beautiful afternoon which I’m safe to stay was a deeply moving and positive experience for all the beautiful and soulful women who attended.
